The Big one!

100 pound black drum! I was close to the world record for black drum by 10 pounds. I cought this puppy on a spinning rod at that! The cooler is 49 inch's wide so you can see how long the drum was. I think it was in the 60 inch range, so I have been told. I cought the piece in Virgina under the bridge tunnel. My cuz cought one a tad bit smaller than this one and my whole family witch has to be one of the smartest fisherman family I know caught 5 citation size fish(cobie,2 Strip bass, 2 black drum). All of them are a 10 out of 10 on the fisherman chart. They can catch fish when no one else can and really have people waiting in line so they can fish with them. Sam my dad,Scott,Dennis,David Morgan are well known in this region and can catch, shephead, cobia, red, black drum, stripers like no one else can. I go a tad bit with them, but I am no die hard either. I love to go though, because when I go with them I usally catch the big one and I always have a good time. Had to show this big daddy for which it did get a citation and we got 5 citation this weekend for the whole family. This was a very old black drum and were I come from (wilmington,NC) this fish get around 5-10 pounds, so this catch was a big catch if you know what I mean.

D is for dummy or D is for D- fence?

I will concentrate this post on the D-side for the panthers and write my next post for the O-side. We all know Fox loves to have a good fast D. Well for the last few years its been okay at best and we have had alot of holes to fill aswell. We sure did get a steal from trading a 5th round pick for Harris(SS) last year from the bears. Harris had 8 fumbles recoveries and was rated 4th in the NFC out of all the safties in sporting news magizine. We really needed that because we got beat by the long ball for the last few seasons and the lack of Mike Minter gone really hurt our team. We drafted Charles Godfrey to play FS this year and start besides Harris and if Godfrey pans out we will be a very tough team to pass deep on. http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3067699&yr=2008Our secondary is allready a stop the run first type of team but we drafted Godfrey in the 3rd and he is a playmaker that can roam the feild and make plays. We allready have 3 dam good CB's in Lucas,Gamble,Marshall ready to kick azz and all of them have good coverage skills and are can have a high INT year when the play up to par. If Godfrey dont pan out then we already signed T. Holt to play FS and he had 70 plus tackles last year for the Cards, but as of today Godfrey will start and Holt will back him up and give us much needed depth in the secondary.

Lets move on to the LB core which a few seasons ago was bad and Morgan was in and out for the panthers while being hurt most of his carear . Well Morgan is gone and retired and Jon Beason was our first pick last year and had over 150 tackles and started at the ILB spot in his first season. T. Davis holds down the SOLB spot and he was our first round pick in 2005 and is very fast and verstile and should start. We still have Diggs which is very good at the run support, but we signed a dam good freeagent this year named London Johnson from the Bengals. http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3271723&yr=2008This guy is very fast and lead the Bengals in tackles 3 out of 4 years. We drafted Dan Cooner out of Penn state with the 3rd pick and he was a first round talent guy that we could not pass on. We were already deep at the LB spot but with him backing up the ILB spot we will be really deep and really good at thge LB spot this year. I would rank our LB's A+ and our secondary a B+ so far. Here comes the weakest part of our whole football team and the most important the D-line. We just lost Rucker, but we picked up Tyler Brayton of the Raider's. He was a first round pick that never panned out. They call him nut cracker and here is why he hit Moss in the nuts one time for taking plays off. He is however a blue collar work horse and should be a tad bit better with Peppers on the other side of him. We also moved Peppers to the right side so we could have more of a pass rush which we were dead last in sacks last year. We still have Mclover and Charles Johnson backing those two up and both are unproven with some upside. Johnson is still unproven, but was a first round talent taken in the 3rd round last year that has not seen alot of playing time, but at the least adds depth. We lost Jenkins this year, but so what, he was fat and a self first guy anyways. We still have another fat guy in Kemo a run stuffer type and D. Lewis which had 5 sacks last year and was a first round pick which will be starting. We picked up Ian Scott and Darwin Walker which both are not that bad and both have played on playoff teams.http://profootball.scout.com/a.z? Is=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=83&rc=16&pid=22 Walker played with those big and nasty eagles and Scott is still young and has alot of upside and I would rate both of them 3 stars out of 5. Overall I would rate the D-line maybe a D+ or maybe a C- with hopes of being a B- at best. For the overall grade for the D this year it should be a B. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=charlotte2&page=nfl/teams/089/sched.aspx?id=089 (schedule for next season)

Panthers guess picks!

The draft is near and its time for cheer and maybe a beer! I think the panthers will take Ryan Clady(OT) or Derrick Harvey(DE) with the first pick. You can not go wrong with either pick and if they go OT and Clady is gone Jeff Otah should be the pick.

1.Ryan Clady(OT) This should bolster their new revamped line. He could start at LT and that would leave Gross at RT. Last year they picked up 1st round talent Ryan Kaili (C) and they moved Wharton to left Guard were he played on the superbowl team. They also picked up 3 big time 300 plus guards to give the line depth.Vencent,Brown,Faloi were the names of those guards and all are very big and nasty so the O-line should be revamped and ready for a good running game this year. http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=3

2.Chris Johnson(HB) This is a 5 star recruit that can flat out fly. He ran 4.2 at the combine and wowed people and he is from ECU so he has state ties. Fox likes 2 backs to start and he should go with D-williams like bacon goes with pancakes. He also will help the S/T out and is a cant miss HB that could be had in the 2nd.http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?
s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=11
3.Pat Simms(DT) He is a very good DT with the draft being one of the best in NFL histry and is a steal in the 3rd round. He should give much needed depth to a dismal D-line that just lost Kris Jenkins.http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=22
3.Chris Ellis(DE) Is a pass rushing fool and is very fast. He played for VT and was hell on wheels in the ACC this year. We just picked up Bryton from Oakland but we still need depth and he could push Johnson for the start at DE this year. http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=23
4.Thomas Decoud(FS) This guy ran ran a 4.5 and he is projected in the 4th plus the fact we still need help at the FS spot. We just signed Terrance Holt from NC state and he may be able to do the job but I will beat you this guy will push for Holts job.http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=33
5.Owen Schmitt(FB) Dude he is a bruiser that will crush your bones like Hulk Hogan crushes macho man bones while he is on steroids? Wait a minute he was on steroids all the time anyway.....brother! http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2008&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=13
6. crap shoot
7.still shooten crap
7. :is the pick that you shoot crap on!
7. your just shitten and get it now!

I am a man of options so I need a back up mock!
1.D. Harvey (DE)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3324662&yr=2008
2.Dre Moore(DT)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3324662&yr=2008
3.Carl Nicks(OT)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3047773&yr=2008
3.Matt Forte(HB)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3100709&yr=2008
4.T. Decoud(FS)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3225627&yr=2008
5.Martin Rucker(TE)http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3159658&yr=2008
